Hello and welcome! I’m Janet Giessl, also known under my anointed pen name Janetta Setherah, a disciple and servant of Jesus Christ, wife, mom, teacher, author, Christian Life Coach, Creative Entrepreneur, and Online Business Coach dedicated to sharing faith, inspiration, and creativity in meaningful ways. Here, you will find a collection of my work, from my blogs and devotionals to resources, products, and the marketplaces where I offer unique creations.
As a prophetic and pastoral scribe (seer and feeler), I connect deeply with the Lord through the written word and expressive art. My pen captures His voice as He speaks to me through vivid images and dreams, gifts I steward daily to record, reflect, and share what He places on my heart.
The biblical foundation for the prophetic scribe is rooted in Matthew 13:52 (ESV): "And he said to them, 'Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house, who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.'" In Matthew 23:34 (ESV), Jesus declares, "Therefore I send you prophets and wise men and scribes," highlighting the important role of scribes in God’s work. Ezekiel 9:2 describes a man clothed in linen, carrying a writing kit, tasked with marking the foreheads of those who mourn over Jerusalem's abominations, ensuring their protection during judgment. The Book of Ezra emphasizes the restoration of His Word through scribes, and Judges 5:14 (ESV) refers to those who lead with heart and courage: "From Ephraim their root they marched down into the valley." A person with a Scribal Anointing® operates in the gifts of administration, instruction, and creativity - either in one, several, or all of these areas if called to the office of a prophetic scribe.
The name Janetta was given to me in a dream in 2020. In that dream, I was singing the name boldly and joyfully, and it carried a deep sense of purpose and calling. It was not just an ordinary dream but a dream within a dream, and I awoke with the profound impression that this name had been gifted to me by God. Later I had a second dream where the name Janetta was written on a piece of paper and given to me.
Janetta combines the name Janet - which means “God is gracious” - with the suffix “-ta,” which means “chamber.” For me, this expresses a powerful truth: Though I live continually under God’s grace, I experience it in a deep and personal way when I enter my scribal chamber - the quiet, sacred space where I meet with Him, listen, and scribe.
Yet, I held it quietly in my heart for a time. I didn’t feel released to walk in it until now. In 2025, I sense the season has come to step fully into this name and the identity it carries - marking a new chapter in my ministry as a prophetic and pastoral scribe and creative messenger.
As I embraced Janetta, I began searching for a surname that would harmonize with the purpose of this name and reflect the deeper place from which I write. Through prayerful reflection and thoughtful exploration, the name Setherah emerged.
Setherah is inspired by the Hebrew word "sēter" (סֵתֶר) - meaning “secret place,” “shelter,” or “hidden dwelling.” It carries the spirit of Psalm 91:1:
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
The ‘ah’ at the end reflects God’s breath or Spirit breathing into this space. Combined with Setherah, the full name Janetta Setherah speaks of God’s gracious presence in the Spirit-filled chamber where I intimately encounter Him and steward His words.
Now, as I step fully into this name in 2025, I embrace the season God has for me - to minister through writing, teaching, and creative expression all born from that chamber of grace and the secret place of His presence.
Sometimes in Scripture, there are names that are easy to overlook, yet they carry deep meaning. One such name is Hassophereth (הַסֹּפֶרֶת), mentioned in Ezra 2:55 and Nehemiah 7:57. Her name means "the female scribe." Although Scripture doesn’t tell us much about her, her title says a lot.
She was among those who returned from exile - part of a people restored by God. And though we don’t know the details of her life, her name reminds us that God has also set apart women for sacred work - work like writing, recording, and preserving what matters most: the things of God.
The Hebrew word for scribe, sofer (סֹפֵר), means to count, recount, or record. The feminine form, soferet (סֹפֶרֶת), shows that this calling wasn’t limited to men in palaces or temples. Women, too, were called to carry and steward the Words of the Lord.
Today, that sacred work might look like writing devotionals, creating art, teaching, or quietly encouraging others through Spirit-led words. It might happen online, at home, in a journal, or in a local gathering. But the heart of a scribe remains the same - to honor God by remembering and recording His truth.
If you are a woman who feels drawn to write or create under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, know that you are not alone. You may be walking in the same path as Hassophereth - chosen to carry a message, even if your name is never widely known.
Let us not forget her.
Let us take our place as the Lord leads.
Let us scribe what He speaks - with reverence, creativity, and obedience.
I added the term "pastoral" to "prophetic scribe" because my calling as a scribe is not only prophetic - delivering God’s messages with divine insight - but also pastoral. It reflects my heart for guiding, teaching, and nurturing others spiritually through my writing, coaching, and creative ministry. My role as a scribe is not just about revelation but also about discipleship and shepherding others in their faith journey.
Through blogs, devotionals, books, printables, and art, I aim to inspire, encourage, and equip others. My creations are expressions of God's insights, touching on healing, joy, and the beauty of walking closely with Him. May Janetta's Scribal Corner encourage you to seek God's heart and grow in faith, one inspired word at a time.
Thank you for visiting – I hope you find encouragement, inspiration, and something that speaks to your heart.

I was blessed and led by the Holy Spirit to learn about the Prophetic Scribe from Apostle Theresa Harvard Johnson, who has dedicated her ministry to unveiling the identity and purpose of present-day prophetic scribes. Her teaching on The Scribal Anointing® illuminates the unique calling and office of the prophetic scribe within both personal and corporate contexts, a revelation she has been given by God for the 21st century in 2005.
Apostle Theresa’s guidance has shown me how to embrace my identity as a prophetic scribe, equipping me to walk in my calling with greater understanding and purpose. Inspired by her ministry, I became a student at the School of the Scribe, which she founded. Through this school, Apostle Theresa also supports local ministries, prophetic groups, and churches in establishing “scribe schools” and teams to nurture the gifting of scribes within their communities.
She has also written several books on the Prophetic Scribe, which provide deeper insights into this calling and help scribes understand their calling within God’s Kingdom. Please click on the button below to be forwarded to Apostle Theresa's collection of books about the Prophetic Scribe.
